The EF 85mm f/1.8 USM delivers sharp, clear images at any aperture. 
The almost circular aperture makes the blurring of those parts of the image that are out of focus more even, and also allows you to highlight in-focus objects against a blurred background. 
The lens has a fixed front focusing element, which allows the use of special filters (polarizing and gradient).
